Hello my name is Staci and welcome to my site.  What you see in front of you is a collection of different aspects of my passion, while some work is traditional others utilize new media and classic technique.  Each piece is a combination of education and a learning curve; exploration and experimentation.  As you visit each of the different pages you will see what I'm talking about.  My favorites are my photographs and my marker work and you can see the photographs use different geographic areas and different depths of perception and the marker uses different types of canvas.  Most of the marker have been done on stretched or board canvas and a few have been done on either silk or canvas paper.  The blender I use allows me to move the color.  The effects are interesting because sometimes it will move like water other times like molasses.  Each movement serves to create the unique color combinations of the marker.
 
Marker:  The current subjects I like to do are floral and fantasy.  The striking colors I have been able to achieve with the marker have, in my opinion, brought a new flavor to my work.  The textures that are visible are due to the satiny sheen that is gained by the heaviness of ink.  I try to stay with vibrant colors because they are more attention grabbing than dull or dark colors.  I am partial to the warmer colors such as oranges, yellows and especially reds are my power colors.  However, every now and then I will do a piece in cooler tones.  I think it's to keep my strengths in color more practiced.
 
Photography:  My favorite photographs have always been macro photographs.  They bring into closer view a world that for most people is untouchable.  There are always undiscovered colors, shadows and lights.  The uniqueness of a water droplet at 5pm in the evening can always become stronger or weaker a minute later.  Timing is essential but not always bad.  Imagination never hurts and traveling is a must.  Traveling doesn't always mean all the way across the country as sometimes all you need is just a new corner in the back yard.
 
I would like anyone who has visited my site, who has a passion for art or photography to know that all it takes is the drive and the will.  Anyone can do it; read all you can and ask all the questions you need.  I think the best place to start is photographing or drawing things you like.  Flowers, animals, landscapes, people, architecture, or doodles. 

And yes you can doodle with photographs just like you can with drawing or painting.
